Happy New Year! I must say 2025 was an amazing year for me. TWO books published, including one that was a Finalist in the American Writing Awards! It’s still hard for me to believe. So what’s on the horizon for this new year??? Well, I have a new idea for my next book. I’m so excited to begin researching and laying out my timeline and plot. It will follow the Western genre that my other two books have been, but will be based on a new set of characters and a new set of issues. Some of the plot will take place right here in TEXAS (I’m a Texas girl), and some scenes and action will take place in the land of the outlaws – Arizona! Are you ready for a new book? This one will take me a bit to research and write, but I will share my progress as I get further along. Stay tuned!

Pawnee Prisoner, The Story of Jane Gotcher Crawford was named a Finalist for the American Writing Awards Western.

I had a wonderful time at the Texas Word Wrangler Book Festival in Giddings, TX! It is such a charming town with the most friendly people you’ll ever meet. I was a featured author and shared my story of Jane Gotcher Crawford with the local community. I read to a sweet group of 5th graders, met with the local newspaper, as well as a member of the local historical society. An archeology steward for the Texas Historical Commission also stopped by and visited! In addition, I made a stop at the Bastrop History Museum to discuss having my book carried in their gift shop. It was such a great trip and nice to be able to share my story with the local community where the Gotcher family lived.

I participated in the Lone Star Festival in Austin, Texas and had a great time. It was put on by the Texas Authors Institute. There are so many great authors in Texas and there were over 60 of them showcasing their published works. I did a reading from my book Pawnee Prisoner on Sunday morning. We set a Texas record for most authors reading consecutively from their published works. Thanks to those who came out to visit and purchase!

A short story I wrote for a WritersWeekly contest has received an Honorable Mention. Titled “Not the Nose, Too!”, the story is about Katie, who is on the yearbook committee at school. Her responsibility is to get something from the Spring Fair to photograph and put on the inside cover. She had a great plan but it fell apart when she tripped and fell into the lap of Bozo the Clown. I don’t usually do short stories, but it was a fun one to write.

I had a great day at the Winnsboro Festival of Books! The festival began on Friday night with an Author Meet & Greet where I met several authors. A nice variety of books was available at the festival, including children’s books, fantasy, romance/mystery, horror/thriller, western, Christian, and self-help. Michael Guinn, an East Texas poet, author, and actor, was the emcee and he was fantastic. Percussion Things performed and an open-mic time allowed for stories and readings. Small town, but big energy event.
